What We Believe
Healing Is Sacred Work
We believe that every person carries within them an innate capacity to heal, grow, and rediscover the wholeness that has always been there beneath the layers of conditioning, trauma, and life experience.
The medicine, the ceremonies, the 4-E Process, and everything we do at Lumina are ultimately in service of that remembering. Not to give you something you do not already possess, but to help remove the obstacles that may have obscured it.
Healing is not about becoming someone else. It is about returning to what is most authentic within you. It is about meeting yourself with honesty, compassion, and courage, and allowing what no longer serves you to soften, release, and transform.
We approach this work with humility and deep respect. The experiences that unfold during retreat are often profound, but we do not believe the healing comes from any one person, technique, or medicine. Rather, these are tools that help create the conditions for your own innate wisdom and healing intelligence to emerge.
Our role is simply to provide a safe and supportive container, to walk beside you on the journey, and to help illuminate the path when it becomes difficult to see.
Because beneath every pattern, every wound, and every story we carry, there is something whole that has never been broken. And it is that deeper truth we seek to remember together.

The Medicine as Sacred
These Plants Are Treated as Sacraments
The plant medicines we work with are gifts of the earth, held in reverence by Indigenous traditions for generations. We treat them the same way — as sacred medicines and teachers, approached with humility, prayer, intention, and deep respect.
To us, the word sacrament is not symbolic. It reflects a way of relating to these medicines that is rooted in reverence rather than consumption. A sacrament is something that helps us enter into a deeper relationship with what is sacred — with life, with truth, with the natural world, and ultimately with ourselves. It is not taken casually, recreationally, or for entertainment. It is approached as a sacred act, with intention, responsibility, and a sincere desire to learn, heal, and grow.
Within a carefully held ceremonial container, these medicines can help illuminate what has been hidden, soften the barriers we place around our hearts, and reveal aspects of ourselves that are asking to be seen, understood, and healed. They can bring us into deeper contact with truth — not always the truth we want to see, but often the truth we most need to encounter.
We honor the Indigenous lineages that have preserved this wisdom across generations, and we remain deeply grateful for the traditions and elders who have carried these medicines forward. Our commitment is to work with them respectfully, responsibly, and in a way that honors both their sacred origins and the profound role they can play in healing and transformation.
At Lumina, treating these plants as sacraments means remembering that they are not the destination. They are part of a sacred process — one that invites us into greater awareness, deeper self-understanding, and a more authentic relationship with life itself. When approached in this spirit, the medicine becomes more than an experience. It becomes a doorway to remembrance, healing, and transformation.
Ancient Wisdom, Modern Healing
Where Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Understanding
We hold deep respect for the ancient traditions from which this work comes. For generations, Indigenous cultures have understood the healing potential of these medicines and developed sophisticated ceremonial practices to work with them safely and respectfully. We honor that wisdom and the lineages that have preserved it.
At the same time, we believe healing today asks for more than ceremony alone.
While profound insights can emerge through medicine work, insight by itself does not always create lasting change. We now understand far more about trauma, conditioning, attachment patterns, and the role of the nervous system in shaping our experience of life. We know that healing is not only a spiritual process — it is also emotional, psychological, relational, and embodied.
At Lumina, we bring these worlds together.
The wisdom of sacred plant medicines is woven together with trauma-informed care, nervous system awareness, embodied practices, deep self-inquiry, and meaningful integration. Rather than focusing solely on the ceremony experience, we work with the whole person — mind, body, heart, and spirit.
This integration of ancient wisdom and modern understanding is at the heart of our approach. The ceremony may reveal what needs to be seen, but it is through embodiment, inquiry, and integration that those insights become part of who we are.
Because healing is not measured by what happens during ceremony. It is measured by how we live when the ceremony is over.

What We Hold Sacred
The Spirit Behind the Work
At the heart of Lumina is a simple belief: every human being possesses an innate capacity to heal, grow, and awaken to a deeper truth within themselves.
We believe transformation is sacred, and that genuine healing is far more than the resolution of symptoms or the pursuit of extraordinary experiences. It is a process of remembering who we are beneath our conditioning, our wounds, our fears, and the stories we have carried about ourselves for so long.
We approach this work with humility and reverence. Ceremony is held as a sanctuary — a space where people can step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what is most essential within themselves. Every aspect of the retreat is approached with intention, prayer, presence, and genuine care, honoring both the courage it takes to undertake this journey and the trust that guests place in us.
We believe deeply in the dignity, sovereignty, and freedom of every person who comes to Lumina. No one is here to be fixed, changed, or told what to believe. The decision to undertake this work is always your own, guided by your own inner knowing and the wisdom of your own heart. Our role is not to provide answers, but to help create the conditions in which your own truth can emerge.
And while ceremony may open the door, we believe the deepest work happens afterward.
Healing is revealed in how we live. In how we show up in our relationships. In how we care for ourselves and others. In how we meet life’s challenges with greater awareness, compassion, and courage. It is found in the small choices we make each day and in the willingness to continue growing long after the retreat has ended.
Because ultimately, the measure of this work is not what happens in ceremony. It is the life that unfolds because of it.
