Our Care Protocol

You Are Held, Every Step of the Way

This is deep and meaningful work, and we recognize that it asks a great deal of courage, openness, and trust from each person who attends.

Our responsibility is to create an environment where you feel safe enough to fully engage in the process. That begins long before you arrive through careful screening, thorough preparation, and honest conversations about whether the retreat is the right fit for you. It continues throughout the retreat with experienced guidance, compassionate support, and a thoughtfully held container designed to help you navigate whatever arises with confidence and care.

Most importantly, our support does not end when the retreat is over. Through our integration program and ongoing guidance, we help you make sense of your experiences and translate them into meaningful changes in everyday life.

You do not have to walk this journey alone. From your first conversation with us to the weeks following your retreat, our intention is that you feel informed, supported, respected, and cared for every step of the way.

Before You Arrive

Careful Screening, Because Your Well-Being Comes First

Not everyone who applies to Lumina is accepted, and that’s intentional.

The work we do can be deeply transformative, but it is not the right fit for everyone at every stage of life. Our responsibility is not simply to fill retreat spaces. Our responsibility is to ensure that each person who attends can be supported safely, responsibly, and with the level of care they deserve.

Every guest completes a thorough screening process before acceptance. We take the time to understand your health history, emotional well-being, life circumstances, intentions, and what is calling you to this work. This allows us to determine whether Lumina is the right environment for your unique journey and whether the timing is appropriate.

If we believe the retreat is not the best fit — or that another form of support would serve you better — we will tell you honestly and compassionately. We view that conversation as an act of care, not exclusion.

When you are accepted into a Lumina retreat, it means more than simply having a reservation. It means we have thoughtfully considered your application and feel confident that we can support you in a safe, meaningful, and responsible way.

Your trust is something we take seriously, and your well-being will always come before enrollment.

Preparing Well

The Work Begins Long Before You Arrive

At Lumina, we believe preparation is part of the healing process itself.

Once you are accepted into the retreat, the journey has already begun. In the weeks leading up to your arrival, we will guide you through a carefully designed preparation process intended to help you arrive grounded, clear, and ready for the work ahead.

This includes following a traditional dieta — a simple set of nutritional and lifestyle guidelines that help reduce distractions, support the body, and create the conditions for a deeper experience. More than a list of restrictions, the dieta is an opportunity to begin slowing down, becoming more intentional, and listening more closely to yourself.

You will also receive guidance on preparing mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for the retreat. We will help you understand what to expect, how to work with intention, and how to begin identifying the patterns, questions, and areas of your life that are calling for healing and transformation.

Many guests are surprised to discover that meaningful shifts begin before they ever set foot on the retreat grounds. As daily habits become more conscious and attention turns inward, clarity often begins to emerge on its own.

By the time you arrive at Lumina, you won’t be starting the journey. You’ll already be on it.

During the Retreat

How We Hold the Space

  • A small group — no more than twelve guests — so no one is lost in the crowd
  • Experienced facilitators present throughout every ceremony
  • Regular, personal check-ins with each guest
  • Grounding and support always on hand if a moment becomes intense
  • Clear, caring guidance so you always know what to do and where to turn
  • A respectful, protected space held by people who’ve walked this path themselves

When Emotion Surfaces

You’re Never Alone in the Process

Meaningful healing often asks us to meet parts of ourselves that have been hidden, protected, or carrying pain for a very long time. During ceremony, emotions, memories, insights, and experiences may arise that feel unfamiliar, vulnerable, or deeply moving. This is a natural part of the healing process.

Whatever emerges, you will not be left to navigate it alone.

Our facilitators are present throughout the entire experience, offering grounded support, compassionate guidance, and a steady presence whenever it is needed. Sometimes support means a reassuring word. Sometimes it means quiet companionship. Sometimes it means helping you stay connected to your breath, your body, and the wisdom of the process unfolding within you.

At Lumina, we do not view difficult moments as something that has gone wrong. Often, they are the doorway to the very healing that brought you here. When approached with care, safety, and support, even the most challenging experiences can become opportunities for profound insight, release, and transformation.

You are never expected to figure it out by yourself, push through it alone, or carry more than you are ready to carry.

One of the greatest gifts of this work is discovering that the places within us that most need healing are often the places that most need to be met with presence, compassion, and support.

And that is exactly what we are here to provide.
